EX 2

The EX 2 is the same as the EX 1, however the alder body has a 2-piece highly figured maple top, with a different range of colour options. Both set-neck and bolt-on necks exist (although I've only seen set-neck ones).
It used to sell for $1329.99.

Among the enthusiasts who visit this site and the forum there is a growing convinction that the EX 2 only exists in a set-neck version.

Heartfield colour codes available for this guitar: Autumn Gold (529), Antique Burst (537), Crimson Stain (538) and Ebony Stain (539).

First documented month of manufacture (not counting the obviously different prototypes): May 1989 (serial number E89207, see guitar below). Last documented month of manufacture: October 1989 (serial number J89588, see guitar below). The guitar appeared in Fender Frontline first in spring 1990 (there were no earlier issues) and last in winter (i.e. early) 1992.

Type: 1988 EX-2 Prototype
Serial #: H88018
Remarks: Another unique guitar, very similar to the one above. Main difference is the presence of mini switches instead of a 3/5-way switch, the fact that the pickups are not covered, and that there is a mini switch between the main controls.
